Bob Hale Endowment Scholarship
The Bob Hale Endowment Scholarship is an annual program established to recognize one individual who demonstrates exceptional dedication to professional development and a clear commitment to public service, and to support that individual in pursuing the Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) certification.
The scholarship recipient will receive up to $2,500 to cover expenses related to pursuing the CDFM certification including, application and exam fees for modules 1-3, and exam preparatory courses/materials.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criterial at the time of submission and selection:
- Be a current professional working in, or transitioning into, the defense financial management field (Open to any defense financial management professional).
- Hold an associate degree or higher, plus 2 years of defense-related financial management experience OR a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 4 years of defense-related financial management experience.
- Individual does not currently hold an active CDFM certification.
- Submit a complete application package, including a nomination essay addressing both why public service in defense financial management and why professional development and the pursuit of the CDFM certification are important to you.
- Receive a letter of recommendation from your supervisor or a professional reference.

Late November – Early/Mid December 2026
- Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.
Mid/Late December 2026
- The selected scholarship recipient will be notified of their award.
