In this session, you’ll explore why developing Business Acumen (BA) skills is essential across all functional areas and career fields in the DoD. These skills are vital for helping you and the broader Defense Workforce maintain a competitive edge against peer and near-peer adversaries. If you’re part of the Defense Acquisition Workforce, BA is especially critical when you’re working with industry partners and other key stakeholders in acquiring systems and services. You’ll learn how to define and apply core BA skills in everyday situations to drive better outcomes and create greater value for the warfighter. You’ll also discover resources and learning pathways to help you strengthen these skills.

• Explain the importance of developing business acumen skills for financial managers at all levels.
• Identify and define the 12-business acumen skills and how they are relevant in acquisition and financial management.
• Apply one or more of the skills in a scenario to overcome financial management challenges and achieve good outcomes.
