Glenda Scheiner takes the helm of the Society of Defense Financial Management National Board of Directors as the organization celebrates 75 years of service to the defense financial management sector.

Alexandria, Va., July 7, 2023 – The Society of Defense Financial Management (SDFM), the nonprofit educational and professional organization for the defense financial management community, announces the appointment of its new National Board of Directors President Glenda Scheiner, CDFM/CDFM-A, DFMCP3. Scheiner is the acting assistant deputy chief of staff Manpower, Personnel and Services for the U.S. Air Force. Effective July 1, Scheiner succeeds Audrey Davis who served a two-year term and was the first national president to serve non-consecutive terms.

“Glenda has a well-earned reputation as a respected leader in the defense financial management sector and I look forward to working with her to serve our members,” said SDFM President CEO Rich Brady. “I also want to thank Audrey for her remarkable job leading the National Executive Council and providing leadership and oversight to the SDFM staff. She previously served as National President almost 20 years ago, and graciously agreed to serve her most recent term. Her commitment to SDFM and the defense financial management community has been unwavering.”

Scheiner joins the organization as a strong advocate of SDFM’s educational programs that support the organization’s mission objectives of education, thought leadership, research, and member value. She has a long career in financial management (FM) and human capital management, overseeing the development of strategies, policies, and systems to foster continued development of the Department of Defense (DoD) FM professionals. She previously served for eight years as the functional community manager for the 55,000-strong FM workforce across the DoD and led development and implementation of the DoD Financial Management Certification Program (DFMCP).  She twice served as SDFM chapter president (Montgomery and Aviation chapters) and has served as the chair of the National Executive Council Professional Development committee and SDFM’s Professional Development Institute (PDI) chair for several years.

“SDFM is widely respected for its unique ability to bring together the nation’s defense financial management community,” said Scheiner. “The organization has a 75-year history of service to defense FM professionals and the future is indeed bright, given the contagious enthusiasm shown by the 7,500 in-person/virtual attendees at the most recent PDI last month in St. Louis.” She added, “I am encouraged and motivated by this energy to transform how we deliver financial management services for the DoD.”

Kim Laurance, Office of the Secretary of Defense and Tina Pierce, U.S. Air Force and Space Force were also appointed as Vice Presidents of the Board for their respective components. Dr. Pamela Clay, Defense Contract Audit Agency was appointed as the new Education and Training Advisor, an ex-officio member of the Board, effective July 1.

Brady added, “We enter FY24 with a renewed sense of hope and optimism, buoyed by the energy and excitement we see throughout SDFM. I look forward to working with our staff, volunteers, and all the SDFM members as we enhance the mission and reach of SDFM and the defense financial management profession.”
