SDFM Announces Endowed Scholarship from Hon. Robert Hale to Support CDFM Program

Washington, D.C. — The Society of Defense Financial Management (SDFM) is proud to announce a generous gift and endowed scholarship from the Honorable Robert Hale in support of the Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) program, The Robert F. Hale Certification Scholarship.

This landmark contribution will help ensure that future generations of defense financial management professionals continue to excel in their field—further strengthening the CDFM’s standing as the gold standard certification in defense financial management.

Hon. Hale’s legacy is especially significant as one of the key architects behind the creation of the CDFM program in the late 1990s. His vision and leadership helped establish the CDFM as the premier credential for defense financial professionals, setting the standard for excellence and accountability in the field.

Hon. Hale has led a distinguished career in the field, serving as:

  • Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Financial Management & Comptroller)
  • Under Secretary of Defense Comptroller/CFO
  • Executive Director of the American Society of Military Comptrollers
  • Executive Director of the Commission on PPBE Reform

The CDFM supports professionals across government, industry, and academia, and remains the mark of excellence for senior leaders dedicated to accountability, stewardship, and transformation within the defense financial community.
